Adolescents and Families

TEENS

Seeing one’s adolescent child/young adult going through challenges or difficulty

And knowing they are in the process of differentiation

Sensing there is a lot they are going through but are resistant to, and untrusting of, parental communication

Watching the pain of their difficulty grieving – whether a death, a divorce or a change in circumstances

Questioning the best way to approach a teen’s interest in drugs or drinking

We now know that the teenage/ young adult brain is changing rapidly from ages 13 – 25

I welcome teens and young adults into my practice and help “coach” or mentor them through these years, by inviting awareness of their brain development, and exploration of self regulation and the paradoxical feelings they are going through.

I help facilitate parents’ reattachment to their adolescent children, making teens feel safe and understood.

I am honored to work with adolescents and families during this transitional time to help them explore what brings meaning to their life.

I have a longstanding mindfulness practice which I bring to each session.

Treatment includes psychodynamic, interpersonal, family systems, and trauma related.  I use not only talk therapy but body based modalities.

My focus on family cohesion and attachment is grounded on the work of Gordon Neufeld, Gabor Mate, Daniel Siegel and the body based/trauma work is based on Lawrence Heller’s NARM model.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line and we could discuss your needs.

To your teen’s wholeness and health,

Loren
